3 powerful new video releases by Doc Jazz

In the past week, Doc Jazz has published three new music videos: two of them on his Facebook page, and one on his Youtube channel. As is typical of the widely varied repertoire of Doc Jazz, these three are nothing alike, and each represent a completely different style of music. The two that were published on the FB page are live performances, whereas the Youtube one is a music video for an existing Doc Jazz song.

The new releases are a live performance on piano of the legendary John Lennon song ‘Imagine‘, a live a Capella rendition of a classic folklore song of the Palestinian struggle ‘Ghanna el 7aadi‘ (‘The Poet Sang’), and a new music video for one of Doc Jazz’s most popular songs, ‘Wake Up!‘.

‘Wake Up!’ calls the attention of the viewer to the war crimes committed by the Zionist entity against the Palestinian people, as a straightforward but contemplative action call upon the global community. Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-Moon is featured in the clip, as Doc Jazz targets him over his inaction in the face of the continuing severe transgressions by the Zionist invaders. The song is in a slow-pounding hip-hop style, musically centered around the drums, the bass guitar, and the Arabic lute (Oud).

‘Ghanna el 7aadi’ is a Palestinian classic song of struggle sung in the folkloric a Capella style of Palestinian tradition. It has the purity and the raw directness of that single-voice tradition, and expresses the dedication of the Palestinian people to liberate their land.

The world famous song ‘Imagine‘ by John Lennon requires no introduction. Doc Jazz’s rendition of this classic usually goes down well with his audience in a live setting. This is an excerpt from his performance in Rotterdam in 2013 at the NAKBA 65 event held in Rotterdam theater ‘De Unie’.
