ISM-France provides French subtitles for ‘HUNGRY’, publishes video

In a strong display of solidarity with the cause of the Palestinian hunger strikers, and with the Musical Intifada’s way of promoting their cause, the International Solidarity Movement’s French division has provided a French translation and has published the music video on their website today.

The article ‘Hungry for Justice: why Palestinian hunger strikers matter’ was also translated into French, by Mireille Rumeau, under the French title ‘Affamés de justice : pourquoi les grévistes de la faim palestiniens importent’.

Thanks to the availability of ISM’s French translation, we were able to update the music video ‘Hungry’ with French subtitles, hoping to reach out to the vast French-speaking masses of the world. ISM-France is the first major pro-Palestine website in the world to publish this music video and help expose it to a large audience.

Despite the fact that pro-Palestine websites in the English language have not yet picked up on the song, ‘Hungry’ still received over 1,000 Youtube-hits after having been online for only a little over 24 hours, and many hits have been added since. We hope that people continue to share the video, and that pro-Palestine websites who publish in other languages will also support the song. Though many of them are giving attention to the cause of Samer issawi and the other Palestinian hunger strikers, something can be said for using music as a means to reach out to the masses with their message.

Another update: the song made it to the top 5 of the Soundclick charts in the category HipHop- Old School, and is currently on number 3! Click here to see, and be sure to stream it once more!  Continuing to stream the song will help push it even further up, and will increase the exposure of the hunger strikers’ cause to the public.
