Doc Jazz releases new music video – Stare It In The Face

Palestinian artist Doc Jazz has released a new music video, relating to the current turmoil in Occupied Palestine. In this post, you will find the embedded video, as well as the lyrics. The title of the song is “Stare It In The Face”, and as the description has it, it is ‘inspired by the proud attitude of the Palestinian resistance, but applicable to any struggle against injustice’.
While, considering the lyrics, this may definitely be the case, the accompanying music/lyrics video which was released on October 10, clearly shows the connection between the words and the ongoing Palestinian protests against occupation and oppression.

Doc Jazz has quite a large repertoire of songs (currently 105), and a considerable collection of music videos to go with it. What makes this one a little different, is that it has been given the format of a “lyrics video”, which means that the entire lyrics of the songs are visualized in the footage. As is often the case with “lyrics videos”, the displayed words coincide with the words in the song, practically word by word, which draws the viewer into the video, following the text as it is being sung or rapped. Nevertheless, it is also spiced somewhat with footage of Palestinians waging civil disobedience and resistance.

Watch the video here, both on Youtube and Facebook, and below it, you will find the lyrics of the song. If you wish to download the free mp3, you can get it here: http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13223887

STARE IT IN THE FACE – DOC JAZZ

Reality
I stare it in the face
My mentality
Is to never be fazed
By mortality
It’s a never-ending chase
Its lethality
Can only be embraced

Neutrality
Is the opportunist way
Normality
Is the mask of those who say
That formality
Is to keep everything grey
And brutality
Is the method of today

When the heat is on
And there’s no way to avoid it
Just stare it in the face
Stare it in the face

Protect your Home be strong
Opposing those who will destroy it
Just stare it in the face
Stare it in the face

Supremacy
I stare it in the face
If they menace me
I respond at my own pace
Hypocrisy
Always leaves a smelly trace
But the prophecy
Has it ending in the blaze

Unfazed, head high,
Because the limit is the sky
Injustice dreads
The ones who simply won’t comply
If might makes right
We will just have to break its stride
Because you only live once
So don’t go down without a fight

Free your mind, and your hands will follow
Your feet will gain speed like summer’s first swallow
There’s two things they can never take away from me
And that’s my insubordination and my dignity

I look at it all
And I stare it in the face
I have my dreams and goals
That can never be erased

My aims may be tall
But it’s case by case
While they’re building walls
We will demolish this disgrace
