New WordPress site up, improvements continue
Hi, this is Doc Jazz on WordPress. Guess what? This is actually the first post that I am writing on this new site. The previous site used Joomla as its content management system, but as time passed I became convinced that WordPress was a better option. In fact, I realized that quite a while ago, but who likes to rebuild their entire website? It’s a major job. Anyway, I think I’m about halfway done!
Why a WordPress site?
Times change, and all you can do is change along with them. When I made the previous version, barely anyone was using a mobile device for connecting to the internet. But time caught up with me, and I noticed that it was getting harder and harder to get the site to look good in Joomla. I’m sure some Joomla fans out there will disagree with me. Nevertheless, I made the switch, and I’m happy that I made it. I love how WordPress works, now that I am used to it.
What should you be expecting?
Quite frankly, I don’t have a straightforward answer to that. What I do think, is that the site will become more active than it has been in the last two years. The decreased activity was partly due to my growing dissatisfaction with how the site was operating. I’m happy that the new site has a Youtube gallery integrated, and has all my important static links readily available and visible. I even managed to integrate the Soundclick player in a visibly attractive manner – then it caused some technical problems so I had to remove it again. I have all the proper social plugins installed, so you can share the content easily. I was worried that I would lose all the previous content I had, but I managed to get it imported in a reasonably successful way.
What can you do to help?
Of course, I’m hoping you’re asking yourself that question at the moment. Well, the answer is easy: you can help by getting me visitors! One of the prices to be paid when you totally change your site, is that none of your links stay the same. This means incoming traffic is bound to suffer a pretty steep dip in the beginning. I would need those who support my work to be sharing the site, and posts from the site, wherever they can. Whether your main activity takes place on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr or any other platform out there, it’s all of great value to help get the website out there!
Many thanks, and hoping we stay in touch,
