Finally, people around the world are getting a chance to see and hear the charismatic Palestinian hero Samer Issawi speaking about his historical hunger strike in an in-depth video interview.

This precious chance to meet the champion of the longest hunger strike in human history, that lasted for 277 days, was given to us by SAIA UTM (Students Against Israeli Apartheid, University of Toronto Mississauga). It was organized as one of the activities of the Israeli Apartheid Week, and can be considered one of its most prominent highlights.

The interview was conducted by Palestinian political scientist Farah Saeed, and touches on many aspects of Samer’s struggle. The language is Arabic, in the Palestinian dialect, but fortunately for all international viewers it comes with closed captions (subtitles) in English. It provides us with a unique chance to have a close encounter with a sympathetic and charismatic person who embodies the struggle by his resilience, his warm personality and his total dedication to the struggle for justice. Naturally, sharing this video widely will be considered a service to the Palestinian cause.

Note: in order to see the subtitles, open the video in Youtube, and then click on ‘CC’ at the bottom of the video.
