Samer Issawi has stopped taking vitamin supplements
RAMALLAH, PALESTINE – The president of the legal union of the Palestinian Prisoner Society, lawyer Jawad Boulos, today announced that a session would be held on Thursday March 21 in Ofer Military Court concerning the case of Palestinian political prisoner Samer Issawi, on an uninterrupted hunger strike since 243 days. Boulos explained that the doctors of Kaplan Medical Center had notified the secretariat of the military court that Issawi could not be transferred to the court room because of the danger of his medical condition. Shortly afterwards, it was announced that the hearing will be moved to April 4th.
Samer Issawi on his part announced that he has stopped taking vitamin supplements. He told the lawyer of the society that he took this decision a number of days ago as a measure of escalation, and that he reduced his strike to taking only water in order to convey the message of the political prisoners and their suffering, coinciding with American president Obama’s arrival to the region. Issawi requested from the sons and mothers of his people to pray for his steadfastness in this period despite the state of his health, and confirmed again that he will continue his hunger strike until freedom.
